We in YWCA condemn stoning Lawal to death over sex!

SIR— The Young Women’s Christian Association of Uganda condemns the sentencing of Ms Amina Lawal for having had a child outisde marriage. The YWCA adds its voice to those who condemn the decision taken by the Sharia court of northern Nigeria to have Ms Lawal stoned to death for bearing a child out of wedlock.Lawal deserved to live her God-given life just as those who rejected her appeal and upheld the death sentence and the father of the child.We strongly urge the Nigerian government to do everything possible to save Ms Lawal’s life.
