The Chief of Defence Forces (CDF), Gen. Muhoozi Kainerugaba, has held talks with European Union (EU) officials on regional security, with a focus on the situation in the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC).
The meeting took place at the Special Forces Command (SFC) headquarters in Entebbe, where Kainerugaba met Johan Borgstam, the EU special representative for the Great Lakes Region, and Jan Sadek, the EU Ambassador to Uganda.
The discussions centred on key security developments in the region and the prevailing situation in the DRC.

Other officials who attended the meeting included Eole Sury, the EU Deputy Head of Delegation to Uganda; Tristan Terryn, political adviser to the EU Special Representative for the Great Lakes Region; and Raymond Mujuni, a policy adviser at Uganda’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
In February this year, the European Union (EU) and Uganda celebrated 50 years of partnership, commemorating five decades of cooperation since the establishment of the European Commission Delegation in Kampala in May 1976.
EU-Uganda relations have been grounded in dialogue, continuity, and a shared commitment to long-term development built on mutual trust and common aspirations.
In the early years, cooperation focused on rebuilding infrastructure, advancing rural development, and expanding access to essential services. These efforts helped connect communities, strengthen local economies, and improve livelihoods across the country.
Today, EU support to Uganda increasingly focuses on promoting sustainable economic growth and creating employment opportunities, particularly for young people.
